Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Riflescope Review

Today we are going to be talking about the Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Riflescope and all the great features and specs that can help you when using your gun to hit the target.

What are the specs of this scope?

This awesome red dot rifle scope is a very reliable, 3 MOA red dot sight, with unlimited relief of your eye for all handguns and shot guns.  The scope itself is a matte in color and will match any sort of gun you may be using.  The power lens is 1X25 mm to help bring in the object, whether it is an animal or a target into crystal clear focus.

The field of view on this scope is unlimited, which can be a very important feature when selecting a red dot scope. Many other red dot scopes do not have unlimited view, in fact many have very short clear views.    The actual weight of the TRS-25 is 3.7 ounces or 106 grams and the length of this item is 2.4 inches or 61.8 mm long.

The eye relief offered is unlimited as well, which is the distance from the surface to at which the user’s eye can see at an angle. Eye relief distance can be extremely important if you wear glasses because the eye of an eyeglass can be farther away from the scope so using the red dot scope with unlimited views will help a lot.  The Bushnell logo is proudly displayed on the side of the rifle scope.

Burris Eliminator Laser Scope Review: Your Next Rifle Scope with Rangefinder Built In

When you are all lined up and ready to take a shot, you don’t want to blow it by figuring out the wrong holdover. Even better would be to not have to calculate a holdover at all, and it is possible with the Burris Optics Eliminator Laserscope. The Eliminator is the most advanced rangefinding scope on the market, and for under $1.000, it can be yours. While not cheap, this scope is worth every penny, especially if it helps you get your next big shot with success.

How it Works

The Burris Optics Eliminator Laserscope is essentially a scope, ballistics calculator, and rangefinder all wrapped up in one little black tube, complete with etched skull graphic. The first step in using this gizmo is to set it up to match your ammunition. Next, you use the rangefinder to aim at a point that matches your trajectory. Using a red floating dot on the reticle, you then zero in on your shot. In other words, you can line up your shot in the middle of the cross hairs, and then raise or lower your gun so the red dot is centered on your target. The red dot will be customized to your ammo, ensuring an on-target shot every time.

Programming

To program the Eliminator, simply push the main button on the left of the scope twice until you get three dashes. Next, hold the main button and the forward arrow for several seconds to enter setup. Select yards or meters, sight-in distance, and a drop number, and then you are ready to aim and fire. Programming details are stored in the scope for convenience on future shots.

Design

Weighing in at 26 ounces with mount and battery, the Eliminator is designed for a low profile mount on your gun. The scope itself may not be the most flashy or attractive unit on the market, and the skull etching is a bit silly, but make no mistake: this scope came to play, and it will impress you with its precision and ease of use. It is a 3.5x10x40 mm scope with a laser accuracy of plus or minus one yard. Eye relief is 3.0 – 3.5.

Other Options

The Burris Optics Eliminator Laserscope is the most affordable of the line, but there are higher end models, including the Eliminator II and Eliminator III. The Eliminator III has a ridiculous range of over 1200 yards with accuracy at all magnifications and a sleeker design than the original. Of course, these both come with higher pricetags, with the Eliminator III breaking the bank at about $1500. Whichever you choose, you will be amazed at how easy these scopes are to use, and you will fall in love with the technology.

If you are looking for all in one convenience and technology that is second to none, give the Burris Optics Eliminator Laserscopes a try. While none of them are cheap, the original Eliminator is priced under $1000, and it will more than pay for itself in results.

Meopta Scopes for Sale and Reviews: Quality & Value

When you are looking for rifle scope reviews, quality and value are not two things that often go together. Not so in the scope market, as long as you know where to look. The Meopta company, based in the Czech Republic, has been making fine optic instruments for the past 70 years, and their rifle scopes give the impression of being much more expensive than they truly are. With two different series from which to choose, the MeoStar and MeoPro, Meopta has the scope you are looking for and will exceed your expectations.

meopta

Meopta Scope Features

The first thing you will notice about a Meopta scope is that it looks good. Made with only high grade aircraft aluminum, the Meopta scopes are put through the Elox anodizing process to give them a durable matte black finish. Light transmission is optimized by using anti-reflective lens coatings and ion assisted applications processes, making them perfect for low light performance. The sealed, nitrogen purged body is waterproof and fog resistant, as well. Depending on the model you choose, you can opt for illuminated reticle or illuminated center dot features with manual controlled variable intensity.

MeoStar vs MeoPro

While all parts are manufactured in Europe, assembly varies between the two lines. The MeoPro series is assembled in the United States, while the MeoStar is assembled in Europe. MeoStar is also a higher end design with better image quality than the MeoPro. Consequently, the MeoStar line comes with a bigger pricetag than does the MeoPro, but most Meopta scope reviews claim that both lines are excellent performers.

Models

The MeoStar series is composed of the following eight products:

  • R1 1.5-6×42 RD – ideal for deer hunting
  • R1 3-10×50 – low light and power performance
  • R1 3-12×56 – great for rapidly changing light conditions
  • R1 3-12×56 RD – red dot illumination for low light
  • R1 4-16×44 – precision at long ranges
  • R1r 3-12×56 – second plane reticles
  • R1r 3-12×56 RD – designed for night hunting with red dot illumination
  • R1r 3-12×56 RGD – red or green dot for night and day hunting

The MeoPro series also has eight models, listed below:

  • 3-9×42 – an all-around hunting scope
  • 3-9×50 – all-around scope with larger objective for low light hunting
  • 3.5-10×44 – larger objective for twilight hunting
  • 3.5-10×44 RD – extra range and red dot illumination
  • 4-12×50 – extra reach for open terrain
  • 4-12×50 BSR – limited edition with Broken Skull Ranch laser etched graphic
  • 6-18×50 – perfect for long range performance
  • 6×42 – fixed power scope for close to medium shooting range

>>> Check Price on MeoPro Series Scopes <<<

When reading Meopta scope reviews, you will find that most agree that both Meopta lines are fantastic atgathering light, making them fantastic tools for hunting at night or twilight. The MeoPro series will run you about half the cost of a MeoStar, but even MeoStar scopes will give you unprecedented bang for your buck when compared with other quality European optics. Most hunters will find the lighter, more affordable MeoPro scopes very appealing and easy to use.

These options are based on many different criteria, offering different optimum ranges and clarity of visibility. Scopes are used to improve the ability to see a distant target, one that is too far away to be easily seen by the naked eye. By adding a scope an individual can see the distance more easily, making it far easier to see the target, and consequently to reach the target. It is important when looking for a scope for an AR-15 rifle to consider every aspect of the scope, and consider what it will be used for.

>> Shooting Range

Different scopes excel in different ranges, offering better visibility up to certain ranges. Some models are only effective up to a few yards while others are effective up to a few hundred yards. The choice of which model to purchase depends highly on the type of shooting that will be done, and the range that needs to be seen. Different kinds of shooting, and different targeting distances, require different tools. Different scopes are simply different tools. Finding the correct tool is a matter of knowing what tool is necessary. Being aware of the range in which shooting will occur is a large part of choosing the best scope to use.

ar15 rifle scope

Close Range Shooting

When looking to do close-range shooting, the most common type of optics are close-range, non-magnified red dot sights. With a red dot sight the purpose is for shooting at 100 yards or less, and allow for both eyes open while shooting by being reduced-parallax or parallax-free. Usually these sights are used to quickly acquire a target, making it easier to line up the shot. They are, obviously, most effect with close-range shots, but can be extended by the addition of a magnifier as well as the red dot sight. Red dot sights are most appropriate for any shooting within 100 yards, close range shots that don’t require magnification.

Mid-Range Shooting

Mid-range optics are usually cheaper models that are used for low-power magnification. They feature aiming points for distant targets and are optimized for up to about 400 yards. They are typically fixed power magnification in the 1x-4x range. They are not designed for close-range use, or for long-range use, but work very well for areas in between. They are mainly used for increasing target acquisition speed, such as a red dot sight. However, they offer more distance capabilities.

Long Range

Long range optics allow the ability to magnify at a much higher level, with a maximum magnification of anywhere from 9x to 16x. Due to this they allow the capability to engage a small target at a large, extended range. They are designed for long-range use, extreme accuracy at long distances. However, with the help of a long-range scope, they can still be useful for mid-range distances by turning the magnification down to the minimum power, usually 3x or 4x.

>> Price Range

Another factor of choosing the right optics can be the price. When looking at AR-15 optics recommendations it is important to have a price range in mind, as optics vary greatly in price. Some models are available for around $100, while others can be as expensive as several thousand dollars. Knowing what you can afford is an important part of choosing the right optics to meet your needs.

>>The Target

Yet another factor in deciding the best scope is what target will be hit. There is a difference when looking to shoot deer or other moving objects, or looking to shoot at an immobile target. When deciding which scope is the best, it is important to factor in what the target will be. Different scopes offer different benefits to targeting, making it important to know exactly what the scope will be used for when making the decision of what scope to buy.

ar15 rifle scope1

It’s important to look into many different models in order to find the best scope for an individual’s needs. Lets check some of the best ones:

1) Bushnell’s AR Optics Line: This line is designed with black rifles in mind, from the ground up. The 1-4x24mm model offers flexibility for many distances, from a few feet to a few hundred yards. It is an ideal scope for an AR-15, and costs a little bit more for the quality.

2) Leupold’s Mark AR MOD 13-9x40mm: This scope is a really useful power range, ideal for shots that aren’t at an extremely close range. It adds more magnification for shots that need a little more at the top end. Perfect for hunting deer or punching paper and steel at medium ranges. It is a little more costly, but the quality is worth every dollar.

3) Nikon 4-16x42mm M-223 BDC 600: The AR-15 wasn’t designed as a long range rifle, but may free-floated and fast-twist barrels are capable of reaching long range, making the AR-15 far more useful with long range shots. The Nikon scope maximizes accuracy at those distances, offering a generous magnification range and side-focus parallax adjustment. Again, it will cost a bit more, but the longer range and quality are worth the price.

4) Leupold Mark 8 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS: This scope is at the top end of prices. However, it is the best of the best. When price isn’t a problem, this is the ideal scope. It allows the operator the ability to reach 8x for long-range shots and can give the user enough field of view to clear a building. It is pricey, but it offers the best of the best in AR-15 scopes.

5) Simmons Predator Quest 4.5-18x44mm: This scope has a vast magnification range, and a generous objective lens. With a 30mm main tube, it can transmit a good amount of light, and it can be adjusted for windage and elevation, and side-focus for parallax. This scope offers all the tools to make precision shots, without costing a large amount.

An AR-15 is an excellent machine, but it is only as good as the ability to see the target. When the target isn’t visible, it can’t be hit. Having the right scope can make hitting the target far easier. In the end, which scope is the best depends on the needs of the buyer. Many factors come into play, from the necessary range to the price. For smaller ranges, the cheaper models are completely adequate, but when price is no matter the more expensive models offer flexibility and excellent visibility for the money. Reaching the target is the goal, and the many factors that go into that all need to be taken into account when decided the best tactical AR-15 scope for your needs.

Nikon P-223 3-9×40 Mate BDC 600 Review

nikon p223Nikon P-223 3-9×40 Mate BDC 600 review: There are a wide variety of AR15 scopes on the market today, with all kinds of different features and specialties. Many companies are constantly updating their models with new improvements to keep up with the competition. It is important to understand what is necessary, what is nice, and what is a good trade off for the price. First of all, for this scope, the buyer can have peace of mind knowing that it is developed by a mainstream, highly dependable and trustworthy optics company with a good record for quality products. The original $200 price point may seem a bit steep, but the value far exceeds the cost and a scope isn’t something that should be compromised on anyway.

What Nikon Forgot

Despite the wonderful quality of this product, there are a few faults. Most scopes today have color changing reticles, at least between two colors, in order to avoid color confusion when aiming at objects of similar color. The P-233 does not have this option. Additionally, the product does not come with rings, and does not have flip caps. These would be two convenient things to include. Not everyone desires flip caps, but they are a small and cheap item to package with the scope.

 The Good Side

Often times a brand will tout that its scope has certain features that do not function up to par – or in some cases, at all. The Nikon P-233 is fog and waterproof and does not fail to live up to these claims. This scope also keeps its zero extremely well. That means that despite moderate to strong recoil from one’s rifle, the scope will not get offset. Of course, after extended use this is bound to happen, but it will take quite some time. In the event that it does lose its zero, the P-233 offers ease of adjustment with standard macro and micro knobs. Unlike many other scopes of similar price range, it will not fail in the field unless it is seriously damaged. As is concurrent with the brand’s history, this scope is sturdily constructed and has great longevity.

Definitely a great choice.

UTG 4.0″ ITA Red/Green Dot Sight with Riser Adaptor, QD Mount and Flip-Open Lens Caps Review

UTG 4.0 ITA Red-Green Dot Sight with Riser AdaptorThe fact that the UTG 4.0″ ITA Red/Green Dot Sight is made in China might worry some people, but the construction is great. While it’s made out of aluminum — which gives it a pleasant, lightweight feel – it’s truly a solid scope that looks and feels like it should cost a lot more. It takes a ridiculously few number of shots to get it lined up, and it holds zero no matter the circumstances.

The green setting is nice and clear even in the brightest conditions, such as direct sunlight, but the red is much better suited for low-light situations or inside of a shooting range. The brightness setting allows users to “pick their strength”, and even when the lights are at their highest intensity, they are not distracted. This scope also provides the option of using small, medium or large dots. Someone using this scope for home protection will find that the red light provides for quick target acquisition, especially when it’s dark. Some people have complained about seeing multiple dots, but this is a problem that seems to only occur with those who wear corrective lenses or who have vision problems – it’s not a defect in the product.

UTG 4.0 ITA Red-Green Dot Sight with Riser Adaptor2This scope comes with everything that is needed to get going right out of the box. Included with the scope are allen wrenches for installation and adjustments, batteries (one to use and a spare), two mounts (high and low) and flip-up lenses caps. The only parts of this scope that are plastic are the lenses caps, but they are high quality and removable.

The quick detach feature is extremely convenient; if the firearm and mounted sight won’t fit in a gun case, for example, it’s quick and easy to just pop off the sight. Best of all, in spite of how easy it is the remove when you want it off, the sight will not become loose during continued use.

The low price and country of origin might raise some eyebrows, but this thing cannot be beat. At this price, it’s definitely worth buying to test out. It can almost be guaranteed that the sight won’t be returned!

NIKON M-223 BDC 600 8489 3-12x42SF Riflescope (Black) Review

Nikon is a leader in the high-quality lenses industry. So, it makes sense that this riflescope is going to be top of the line. One of the most important aspects of any product is ease of use, and this scope delivers with incredible precision. It is ready to use right out of the box and has a wide range of uses. The scope provides stunning accuracy at 100, 300 and even 600 yards out, with a bullet drop compensator (BDC) that can be adjusted in 50 yard increments. The BDC also allows users to change from one distance to another without the need to make manual adjustments.

The Nikon M-223 BDC 600 8489 3-12x42SF riflescope has excellent clarity and works flawlessly in low-light conditions. The scope can easily be sighted within 10 to 20 rounds, and it will hold zero through hundreds and thousands of rounds.

The scope is made in the Philippines of aircraft-grade aluminum, which makes it lightweight and durable. It has a sleek design and just looks good. The craftsmanship on this piece is superb, and it holds steady and solid even when less-than-perfect ammo is used. The removable anti-reflective device does a great job at minimizing lens glare. Also included are two caps to keep the lens protected when not in use. A separate mount will be required, and the .223 mount works wonderfully.

NIKON M-223 BDC 600 8489 3-12x42SF Riflescope (Black)-2If there were to be any cons about this particular scope, it would be that the numbers on the turret are black to match the scope, which might make things difficult to see in low-light conditions. During the day, this doesn’t present a problem at all, especially when each adjustment is met with nice, crisp click. Also, there is no need for any kind of tools when adjusting.

As far as value, this riflescope outperforms all others in its price range. Considering how well it works, the price tag on this model makes it a steal. Anyone who thinks that this model is too expensive is welcome to try out one of the cheaper ones. Once they’ve wasted their money, they will certainly want to come back to this one. Those looking for an extremely reasonably priced scope that can handle mid to long distance shooting with little effort are sure to find themselves quite pleased with the M-223.
